Content Management
Whether you are managing content for a web site,
a library of publications, or your own proprietary data, content management
is an important role in today's information-packed world. We make content
management easy and cost effective by using our own flagship product,
Redtopia Content Management System, or RCMS.
What is RCMS?
RCMS is a content management tool that enables organizations to manage
their own data. It is designed to be extensible, meaning that it can handle
virtually any type of information. It comes pre-configured with many useful
content objects that can be managed by any number of people. These pre-defined
objects include calendars, events, web page layouts, HTML text, as well
as support for web files such as images, audio and video clips, and PDFs.
Support for custom data objects can be added easily.
The underlying storage mechanism in RCMS is a relational database. RCMS
works with any relational database system including Microsoft Access,
SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL. Depending on your goal, RCMS also allows
you to export content into any format, including XML, so your data is
always yours.
Easy-To-Use
Accessing content is easy using the RCMS Web Administrator Tool, which
is a stand-alone web site. Users simply go to the web address for the
site, and login using their credentials. Managers can create users and
groups, and assign permissions to access content.
Content can be organized in any number of ways depending on what makes
sense for the type of information being stored. Content is organized into
a familiar folder structure, which is easy to understand and manage.
Built Using Proven Technology
RCMS is built on top of proven software packages, such as Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Internet
Information Services,
Macromedia ColdFusion Server, Microsoft SQL 2000, and Microsoft Access database systems.
RCMS can also be deployed using any relational database system, or web server.
Multi-platform Support
The default method to access content is done using
the RCMS Administrator Tool, which is a stand-alone web site providing
user-level access to RCMS databases. The Administrator Tool runs on the
latest versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape on Windows, Macintosh,
and Linux.
Content Distribution
RCMS provides mechanisms to publish content in any
number of ways. Because content is stored in a relational database, it
can be exported to target any content consumer such as a web site, a PDF
document, or other electronic or printed media.
